shop update // first year certificates

first year certificates

Finally, one of our most requested items is available in our little shop! Similar to the certificates we created for our daughter’s first birthday, these fill-in-the-blank First Year Certificates are perfect for documenting your baby’s first year milestones. There’s room to record the first time they giggled, the first time they rolled over and the first time they crawled. You can document their first word, first tooth and more. There’s even room for you to leave their tiny first handprint + footprint. These certificates are perfectly sized for framing, mailing or placing in your little one’s memory box. Enjoy!

interview with boxcar press

Thanks to the folks at Boxcar Press for the wonderful spotlight yesterday! They interviewed us for a series on their blog. Check it out and get a glimpse into our printing life.

first day of dancing

first day of dance class

Yesterday was Em’s first day of dance lessons. She was so excited. After class she told me, “Mommy, I was dancing!” Her happiness melted my heart.

maw maw's 90th birthday

Today, my grandmother turns ninety years old. It’s really, really hard to believe that’s she’s ninety. She’s a such a go-getter. Still very much active and happy. She lives six hours away but wanted to spend her birthday with us. So in a few hours, we’ll be celebrating all that she’s experienced and achieved in the nine decades of her life. To many more happy + healthy years, Maw Maw! We love you.

toy cameras

Every week until Em was two years old, I took her weekly picture. It’s been four months since those weekly pictures but Em is so accustomed to the routine that she often takes out her mat [where I'd take her picture] and we take turns taking pretend pictures. I was thinking a little toy camera would be something she might really enjoy. I rounded up these fun wooden options. Then, I read about my friend Kim giving her daughter [who is just a few months older than Em] her old camera. A real camera that her daughter uses to take real pictures. That might be fun, too!

lil mo rugs

Every morning I check Zulily to see what adorable things they have for sale. Today, I was blown away with these rugs. They are made by a company called Momeni, and these are from their children’s line. Really, really beautiful!

whimsical watercolor

I’m still loving the watercolor trend. In fact, I just picked up this dress for our family portraits this year. It’s a much bolder print that I usually wear [I usually end up sticking with solids] but I thought I’d give it a whirl!

portland, oregon // day two

We started our second day in Portland at the Japanese Garden. It was lush and peaceful and beautiful.

The Japanese Garden, the International Rose Test Garden and the Oregon Zoo are all in the same area. After our time at the Japanese Garden, we were hungry for lunch but not sure if there were any food options around. Turns out, yes! Cascade Grill at the Oregon Zoo is what we found. Bonus? We didn’t have to pay zoo admission to get a bite to eat at the grill.

Afterwards, we headed to the International Rose Test Garden. It was more beautiful than I imagined! The roses were huge and very abundant. We listened in on a tour for a while and learned that they clip their roses a specific way to produce lots of blooms.

Following the Rose Garden, we stumbled upon Saint Cupcake and tried drinking chocolate at Cocoa. The picture below is a little deceiving. The cups are actually demitasse cups and therefore really tiny. The drinking chocolate was pure bliss. Rich + decadent.

Next, we headed to Powell’s Books where we found this Good Night Oregon book which was the perfect souvenir to bring back for Em.

Before dinner, we stopped by the food trucks near our hotel. I found their arrangement pretty smart. In Austin, ordering typically happens from the side of the trucks. In Portland, they park side by side and the ordering happens at the back end of the trucks which all face outwards, thus allowing more trucks to fit into the lot.
