bee bash 2013 // austin

This weekend, some special friends came to Austin to celebrate friendships + have fun.

Some things we did? Well, G’Raj Mahal Cafe + Rainey Street, Iron CactusEsther’s Follies, 6th StreetPhil’s Icehouse, Central Market, Pinthouse Pizza and The Oasis. There was also Shady Grove, hiking Mount Bonnell, a Pubcrawler, Austin Water Bikes + Bats, shopping on SoCo, Amy’s Ice Cream, Torchy’s Tacos and Stubb’s Bar-B-Q.

Needless to say, I was able to cross a few things off our Austin list.

Thanks for the ton-o-fun, girls!

Here’s what Em loved when she was two and a half years old. She also loved a few big things like her trampoline but these are smaller items that are priced nicely for gift giving.

Doctor Set – This is a great set with lots of fun things inside.

Matching Game – There are many versions of this game. For boys, I like gifting the superhero set.

Storybook Collection Books – We got this book on our second trip to Disney. I fell in love with the vintage graphics. It’s a beautiful, thick book with gilded pages and it contains seventeen short stories. Again, there are many versions including a Christmas edition and a superhero version.

Puzzles – Four wooden puzzles are included in this set and they are all contained in a divided wooden box.

Look and Find Books – Em loves seek and find books. This is her absolute favorite. At two and a half years old, I think she read it daily.

Here’s one of the latest custom moving announcements we illustrated + letterpress printed. A gorgeous house nestled in lovely lush flora + foliage.

Congratulations on your beautiful new home F family!

iphone 5 cases

If we’re friends on Facebook, then you saw that I just got a new phone [whoo hoo! :] Now, I’m on the hunt for a case that won’t cover up the lovely gold. Here’s what I narrowed it down to. A bumper, a clear case with hand painted flowers, a bumper with clear back and a mock case by the same company that my last case came from.

Do you have any other contenders I should add to my list?

Have you heard of this? Stitch Fix. It’s a stylish personal shopping service. A few friends use it and love it. You sign up, fill out your profile including your style, size, lifestyle and budget and they send you a box full of hand selected goodies based on your style profile. You have three days to try on everything, and you pay for only what you want to keep. There is a $20 styling fee which goes towards the purchase of anything you like in your box. It’s free shipping both ways. Oh, and your box not only contains clothes, but accessories, too! This definitely sounds like something I could use!

If you want to sign up, I’d love for you to use my referral links above! Thanks!

watercolors

watercolor1

We bought some new watercolors for Em today. She had been using a little kiddie set with a little cheap brush. We only had one brush and she wanted us to paint together as a family [aka at the same time]. Plus, she paints every single day. So after her dance class, we made a little pit stop at Jo-Ann’s. I didn’t intend to get watercolors too but these were so pretty! Bonus – a nice, new brush inside.

I also picked up a sketchbook filled with paper specifically for watercolors. We spent much of the afternoon watercoloring together.

Here’s the first one we completed. The colors are so vivid. Love.

austin // easy tiger + kung fu saloon

Friday evening, we ventured out to check off Easy Tiger from our Ultimate Austin List. I first discovered the bake shop + beer garden when their website design made the rounds online. Not a huge menu, but what we got was really good – smoked pastrami sandwich, baguette and butter, charred okra and pain au chocolat.

Afterwards, we had a little more time to pass otherwise we would have been caught in the heading-home-traffic that’s brutal in Austin. So, we went to Kung Fu Saloon.

Kung fu saloon? Fourteen vintage arcade games + a full bar.

My favorite are the vintage skee ball machines. And they are free!
