trip down memory lane

kacey, em and i just got back from a whirlwind road trip. friday we went to dallas and joined friends for a pool party. then, we headed to tulsa to meet up with my cousins-in-law. next, we headed to midwest city to visit kacey’s grandmother. em also met other family members there for the first time as we gathered for a nice family dinner. lastly, we drove to oklahoma city to meet up with a friend, and then we headed back home.

kacey grew up in tulsa. i had never been, so he showed me around. we went to the center of the universe -

it’s a spot downtown where you stand in the center of a circle on the ground to hear your voice echo. it’s pretty cool -

chandler park,

turkey mountain,

drove down riverside and passed by his childhood home. the top window is where his bedroom was. and those trees? he use to spend his afternoons climbing them.

his street was a dead end. they use to throw block parties here and light fireworks for the fourth of july.

all these memories got us talking about our little em. what will her memories be? what will she look back on and smile about?

Emily’s Birth Announcements

As promised, here’s a peek at Emily’s birth announcements. It’s so clichĂ© to say, but as a designer, designing for yourself can be so difficult! I must have gone through 10 versions. Twine. Folds. Multiple pictures. You name it. In the end, I scaled it all back and returned to what I do best. Simple + clean, and I really love how they turned out.

The picture is from her newborn shoot with Bloom Photography. I also should note that I did edit the photo of the announcement for privacy sake. Her full name is showcased on the announcements we sent out.

flora and henri

sweet children’s clothes from flora and henri. i especially love the romper.

party planning blogs

now that we have a little one, it seems i’ve been gravitating towards party planning blogs, especially ones for kids. above are three that i’ve bookmarked. i thought i’d share them with you, too. click on the headers above to be linked to the corresponding blog.

do you have any other favorites? do tell!

happy wednesday

hello there! hope you are having a good week. em and i are away visiting family, so as you’ve noticed, posting will be light this week. her baptism [and a little celebration to follow] will be this weekend, so we’re scooting around town getting everything ready for it. above is what she will be wearing [aka, the handmade gown + bonnet that i wore for my own christening as a baby].

when we get back, i’ll have lots of fun stuff to post. her baptismal invitations, her baby announcements + more!

glassversary // follow-up

the other day i was watching destination design on hgtv. the show sends the homeowners on vacation. the homeowners take pictures of things that they discover while away. then, the host uses those pictures as inspiration for their room which gets a makeover.

during the show i caught, the homeowners went to austin, texas, and one of their experiences was glassblowing. the glassblowing just so happened to be at the same place that i took kacey for our glassversary. that’s when i also realized that i never blogged about our glassblowing experience! so, i thought i’d share the pictures with you guys now.

top picture – the tools  // second picture – tubes of glass // third picture – kacey working with the glass + the glass in the furnace // last picture – what we produced!

Taylor Joelle Ties

every morning i check several baby deal sites and today they had these adorable ties on kid steals. so cute, right? i was tempted to buy a couple for gifts, but before i could get my credit card out they were all sold out! that’s the only downside to these sites. if you like something, snag it the second the sale starts or you could miss out.

Pilli Pilli

i’m smitten by these linen pouches by etsy seller pilli pilli. so sweet!
