covered in snow

my good friend in d.c. sent over these pictures of his neighborhood covered in snow. these were taken a couple of days ago after some areas got 25 inches. i’m pretty sure they’ve gotten more since then. in the last picture, those humps are actually cars buried under snow.

being a southerner, i’ve really never seen snow. especially snow like this. i remember once when i was probably 5 years old we had snow flurries during the night, but by the time i woke up, it was nearly all gone. my sweet grandmother had gone out and made a miniature snowman and stuck it in the freezer so that i could see it when i woke up. i remember taking a picture with it and i was all bundled up my thick pink jacket and rubber boots. boy, i can’t imagine living in a place that sees snow every year.

especially blizzards like this!

see you in twenty ten

is it just me, or is it shocking how quickly this year flew by? i know people seem to say that every year, but truly it just zooooomed on by! 2009 was a great year filled with lots of changes, many happy times + wonderful memories. i have a feeling next year will be just as splendid! cheers + see you in twenty ten!  |  photo via ffffound

glassversary

since it fell on a wednesday, kacey and i celebrated our anniversary this weekend. i thought i’d share with you the gift i made for him.

we really try to follow the predetermined anniversary gift list, and the third anniversary is leather, crystal or glass. for months i thought about what to get him. i like to give him experience type of gifts, and after reading this post, i emailed brooke to see how her class went. she loved it and sent me a link to austin art glass which offers private glassblowing classes. i knew i had found the perfect gift for him.

i also knew i wanted something for him to physically open on our anniversary. i designed and printed out a larger card + a little card. i affixed a glassine envelope to the larger card, inserted the little card inside it and sealed it with a round sticker. the larger card was placed inside a jelly bean filled kraft box, and the box was tied with white twill tape. he absolutely loved it!

3 years

today, kacey and i celebrate three years of marriage. it’s been a wonderful three years, full of love and growth and many, many happy memories.

my anthropologie catalog arrived last week and i went gaga over these porcelain knitted ski cap candles. even the scents sound divine! i’m hoping to pass by the store sometime soon to see + smell them in person.
