colorful past

Even though we call it our Pearl no. 2, it’s technically an Improved Pearl Press #11.

It’s the same as our other press, now known as Pearl no. 1, which is also an Improved Pearl Press #11.

I love these pictures of the new to us press. The drips and splashes show us its colorful past.

Before finding it’s way into our studio, it was used for 30 years by a man with a commercial printing business in Missouri.

The man in Missouri purchased it in Amsterdam, New York. He also thought it may have enjoyed some time in Europe prior to it’s stay in New York.

I can’t wait to begin using this press and add more chapters to its story.

pearl no. 2

It looks like all of our toe + finger crossing worked! The press was in pretty good condition. After 24 hours of driving to get it, the press now sits in our garage. Kacey will be spending the next few weeks stripping, sanding, priming, painting and putting it back together again just like he did with our first one. He has quite a project on his hands!

road trip

If all goes well this weekend, we’ll have a new addition to the studio. A second Pearl Press. We’ve been on the search for some time and finally found one. Kacey and his dad will be taking a big road trip to pick it up, provided it’s in good working condition. Our fingers + toes are crossed!!

What about you? What are your weekend plans?

around the studio

we’ve been hecka busy in the studio lately. we’ve got several design + printing projects we are working hard on. plus, holiday orders are in full swing. and, we have some secret, hush hush stuff going on behind the scenes, too. i can’t wait to share the hush hush stuff with you guys, but it may be a couple of weeks before we can. in the meantime, it’s going to be so tough not to spill the beans!

hope you have a fabulous weekend!

lovely design

it’s a good thing i spent a good chunk of wednesday organizing our studio, because lookie what came in the mail today.

this lovely address file now has a sweet home on my desk. i’ve been lusting after it for what seems like forever, and i finally decided to get on the waiting list for one.

it’s handmade, filled with pretty + colorful recycled paper, and receiving it really made my day!

featured // sage wedding pros

over the years, i’ve been very fortunate to meet many supportive and talented people in the blogging world. back when kacey and i were forming duet letterpress, several of these blogging friends and i realized we were all embarking on a similar path at the same time. we were all in the midst of starting up our own businesses. each of us had goals. each of us had questions. together, we decided to form a little group in order to draw strength and knowledge from each other and go along this new business journey together.

our little group known as the bodacious business planners is comprised of four wedding planners, two stationery designers, two photographers and an illustrator, and today we are being featured on sage wedding pros. thanks michelle!

around the studio

we’ve been quite busy in the studio lately. despite the summer heat, we’ve been working on a little christmas line of cards + tags. seems crazy that august is halfway over and the holidays are around the corner.

oh, and thanks for the dining room prints feedback. i’m still undecided though i’m leaning towards framing travel pictures and hanging a blanca gómez print in another room.

off to drop off these goodies into the mail. happy thursday!

sweet peonies

this weekend, i picked up the most beautiful peony blooms. they smell so, so lovely and are huge – about the size of my hand. there’s just something about having fresh flowers around. i can’t help but smile when i see + smell them.

hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
